Blayne Soleymani-Pearson

for Washington County Commissioner District 2

I live in the Cedar Mill area with my wife, Nilofar, and our two children. We have proudly called Washington County home for nearly 12 years.

Currently, I serve as a Deputy District Attorney and have spent the last two years as a domestic violence prosecutor. This role is deeply meaningful to me because I witnessed domestic violence growing up. I am grateful for the opportunity to fight for justice for the most vulnerable members of our community.

My path to the courtroom was not a straight line. Before practicing law, I worked in the local real estate market, at Apple, and as a waiter. These experiences grounded me in the everyday lives and economic realities of the people who make this county what it is. I eventually earned my law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and my undergraduate degree from Portland State University.

When I am not working, my family and I enjoy walking around our beautiful neighborhood, visiting local parks and the zoo, or venturing out to the coast. I have recently taken up the guitar, though I will be the first to admit my skills are a work in progress! I am also an avid reader and hope to one day be fluent in Persian (Farsi).

Washington County has given my family so much. I am committed to listening, learning, and working alongside you to ensure every family feels that same sense of belonging.

I’m Running Because We Deserve Leaders Who Will Fight for Working Families!

Nilofar and I chose Washington County for its diversity, safety, and welcoming spirit. As we reflect on the community we want our children to inherit, I know we can do better. We deserve a county that is safe, inclusive, and full of economic opportunity. Achieving that vision requires courage, dedication, and imagination.

My experience as an attorney is a vital missing piece on the current board. My legal training ensures I will be ready on day one to navigate complex challenges and fight for our interests.

This fight is personal to me. When Nilofar and I married in 2018, Trump’s unconstitutional "Muslim Ban" prevented several family members from traveling to celebrate our wedding. Watching our family members get stereotyped and excluded was the turning point that motivated me to become a lawyer to make a lasting impact for my family and our community. My legal training ensures I will be ready on day one to navigate complex challenges and fight for our interests.

Protecting Our Neighbors is Critical. The current federal administration is using ICE to abduct members of our community. Unfortunately, rather than standing firm, many current commissioners have simply capitulated to these unjust practices. A passive approach will not protect our residents. Those with the privilege to fight have a duty to act.

The Board is missing an attorney who knows how to use the law to help protect us all. I know that families are depending on us to be bold and preserve their future. Washington County deserves leaders who will take decisive action to protect our neighbors and their civil rights. I am prepared to stand up to federal pressure and champion our local values. I am prepared to focus on helping our residents thrive. Together, we can build a future where everyone has a place, safety, and a voice. We can create the kind of county our children will be proud to call home.
